VASTUSHASHTRA
The word Vastu (vestu) is derived from Vastu which means what is or what rules and the science related to Vastu is known as Vastushastra. The word Vastu give knowledge about four things : land, building, vehicle and bed. Vastushastra is not only concerned with the construction of the country or cities but also with the construction of the country or cities but also with the construction of small buildings, to the furniture to be used, or assembling the vehicles. The construction of commercial buildings and factories is also taken into account. It is mainly related with building construction.

IMPORTANCE:
IMPORTANCE: Vastushastra obeys the laws of nature and is based on the laws of gravitational force, magnetic force, flow of electric current, flow of wind, water, effect of environment, flow of sun rays and importance of directions. The effect of everybody knows the Importance of sunrays to our health is immense. For this Ishan (N.E. Angle) is left open. So the sunrays known as solar energy may be in easy reach to the building and tot the residents of the building.

The eastern part of the house should be lower and the windows and doors must be spacious. The rays of the setting sun are not good for health so the space in western side is left open to the least.

According to Ayurved the morning sun bath has great importance than that of the evening.
The basic source of the world is energy. This energy continues to flow from North Pole to South Pole in the form of magnetic waves. It is known as Electro magnetic current. If the Northern part of the building is lower than that of Southern then the energy will flow towards building and will give you good fortune and prosperity.

In case the Northern part of the building is high that will intrude the flow of energy.

DIRECTIONS AND INTERMEDIATE POINTS:

The four directions, four intermediate points, upward and down under make ten direction.

Four directions are:

(1) North, (2) South, (3) East, (4) West

Four intermediate points or quarters or angles are:
(1) Ishan (N.E.), (2) Aagney (S.E.), (3) Nairutya (S.W.),
(4) Vayavya ( N.W.)
  • Please pay attention:
  • On the right of the North is the East.
  • On the opposite of the North is the South.
  • On the opposite of the East is the West.
  • Angle between the East and the south is called the Aagney (South-East).
  • Angle between the South and the West us Nairutya.
  • Angle between the North and the West is Vayavya.
  • Angle between the North and the East is Ishan.
The direction and intermediate points are eight in number;
Division of Plot in Four Parts:

The plot whether square or rectangular put at the Centre of it a compass and find out the North direction. Then draw line from the North to the South followed by another line from the East to from the West at 90°.

Division of Plot in Eight Parts:

The method of division in eight parts is as follows :
First with the help of a compass draw a line from the North to the South. Then draw two angles of 22.5° in East and West and draw a line joining these points. After deciding North and South directions from the centre draw angles of 45°.
Then there will be eight parts of 8 X 45 =360° as under :
(1) North sector, (2) North-East sector,
(3) East sector (4) South-East sector,
(5) South sector, (6) South-West sector,
(7) West sector, (8) North-West sector.
These eight parts of the plot are also known as :

Importance of Directions:
The directions in the construction of a building are very important. All the directions points to the different elements of the universe. Every direction is devoted to a different god.
Look
(1) The East indicates Agni (fire). Its god is Indra.
(2) The west indicates Vaayu (air). Its god is Varun.
(3) The North indicates Jala (water) . Its god is Kuber.
(4) The South indicates Prithvi (earth). Its god is Yama.
(5) The North-East indicates Jala (water). And its god is Rudra.
(6) The North-West indicates the Vayu (air) and its god is vayu.
(7) The South-East (Agneya) indicates Agni (fire) and its god is Agni.
(8) The South-West (Nairutya) indicates Prithvi (earth) and its god is Anantata or Nairutya.
Influence of direction: (1) East direction is considered good for males.
(2) West is considered inferior for males.
(3) North is considered good for females.
(4) South is considered inferior for females.
(5) Ishan is auspicious while Nairutya is considered inauspicious.
(6) The building must be constructed to the South-West angle and a large space should be left open to the east.
Checklist for positioning the rooms and open space in the plots:
  • Road to the East of the plot is the best, to the West is good, to North then it is better and to the South is simple.
  • If the road is to North-East of the plot, the plot is the best. If the road of the plot is to the North-East angle, construction of such plot is neither profitable nor of loss.
  • The road of the South-West of the plot is also ordinary and the bears ordinary fruits.
  • In case the road is to South-East of the plot it is unlucky. The construction will result in evil effects and poverty.
  • If the roads are in East and West then the plot is ordinary. Construct the gates on both the sides but use only one to get good results.
  • If the roads are both to the North and South of the plot then the result will be mixed. So construct the gates on the both the sides but use only one entrance.
Division of plot for Deities
The plot which is to be constructed is divided either in 81 or 64 parts.
The building plan of the site is carried out according to this division.

There is provision for 81 divisions in construction of a house 64 in temple and Royal palaces construction work.

According to this division. Lord Brahma deities on the head, Parganya and Diti, in ears, water in neck, Jaya and Aditi on shoulders, Aryama and Mudhar in udders, aap Vasta, Indra etc. Five gods in the heart, Savitra in left arm, Naga etc. in right arm, Savita in both South arms, Rudradi Do Deo in left hand, maitra in thigh Brahma in umbilicus, in back Indra and in the male organ of generation Jai, five in both thighs, disease, Pusha, bull of Shiva and seven deities in ankle bones and the paternal ancestors in the legs or feet. In the Ishan Aap, Aapvats in Agney Savitra- Savita in Nairutya Indra-Indra raj, in Vayavya Rudra, Pap Yaksham and the middle nine parts are considered the place of Braliment Mahidhar in the North of Brahma in three parts. In the Southern three parts VivsWans, in the three parts of West Mitra and in the Eastern three parts Aryma gods are placed. The architecture plans the building construction on the basis of this PadaVinyas.
In the East : 1. Ish, 2 Parjanya, 3. Jayant , 4. Indra, 5. Surya, 6. Satya, 7. Bharash, 8. Aakash, In the South : 9. Aagni, 10. Pusha, 11. Vittha, 12. Grahshat, 13. Yama, 14. Gandharva, 15. Bhrangraj, 16. Mirag, 17. Pitra Deo, In the West : 18. Dowarika, 19. Sugreev, 20. Pushdant, 21. Varun, 22. Asur, 23. Shesh, 24. Rog, In the North: 25. Vayu, 26. Naag, 27. Mukhay, 28. Bhallat, 29. Som, 30. Sarp, 31. Aditi, 32. Diti, etc. 33. Deities should be established.
VASTU DISINTEGRATION
The vastu disintegration of plots and buildings is the most important to be considered . Before knowing about vastu disintegration the excellent principals of vastu must be renewed.
  • TIPS FOR VASTU COMPLIANCE:
  • The Southern and western sides of the building should be higher than that of northern and eastern. The open space in the building should be more in northern and eastern sides than that of southern and western sides.
  • The first three principals are related to the elements of earth, the fourth is related to water, the fifth one to the elements of fire while the sixth and seventh to the elements of air and sky.
  • The source of water in the plot should be in Ishan angle. The water in the building should flow from north or east and should also exit from these directions.
  • The plot should be auspicious and propitious size. The doors and windows of the building should be in even number. The doors should be in North or East while the windows should be in west, east or in North. The windows should never be constructed in the cornors.
  • The slope of the floor must be in East, North in, Ishan directions. The south and West part must be kept higher than that of North and East side.
  • The Kitchen in the building should be in Agneya along with all electric Boards and other fire appliances etc. The electrical appliances and the cooking range should be in the agneya. As a result the residents are always are always carefree from any fire accident.
  • The extension of plot in Ishan and diminution in Agneya is always fruitful auspicious and the extension of plot in other direction is always unauspicious.
How to disintegrate Vastu ?
  • The primary step to disintegrate any plot is to know its shape and size. The plot or the building should be auspicious size. These auspicious types of plots are given here. Squared, rectangular, hexagonal, octagonal, tetragonal, circular plots are very auspicious. The Lion faced plots are very auspicious for residential purpose.
  • The extension and diminution of the plot must be considered after considering the shape and size of the said plot. The extension towards Ishan while diminution in is Agneya is auspicious the extension or diminution is unfortunate in other directions and if required it can be replaned. The crack things is in favourable condition is not good but if there is a street between this and plot then no harm and also no effect of those such things which are situated at the distance of double of the hight of the building.
  • The earth elements are assumed in the South and Nairutya in the building. Hence these sides must be higher and heavy. This place is a sign of stability. High buildings and mounds near the plot in this side are always lucky.
  • The source of water near the plot is also an important factor to be considered. The flow of water should be from West to East and South to North. If the source of water is in the East-North then it is lucky for the owner of the building and will give good results in future the source of water in a plot should be in eastern, North-eastern Ishan or in Northern Ishan. But is not fruitful right in the Ishan. And these direction must be lower than others. The exit of the used water must be in Tshan and the drainage of the Lavoratory must be in vayavya. The under ground water tank must be either in eastern or Northern Ishan but the overhead water tank must be in Nairutya and the flow of water must be either from East or North and also to the same side.
  • The water elements are the signs of cleanliness and purity. So the Ishan corner of the house should be kept pure and clean in respect to other directions. The worship place in the Ishan comes always sheds the flowers of prosperity and happiness. It is a very sensitive angle, so no impure and uncleaned things should be kept here. Even the broom stick, duster and the dustbin should not be kept in this place.
  • The windows and doors of building should be considered for the air element. The main gate should be of a good quality. The gates in North Ishan, East Ishan, South Agneya and West Vayavya are called best situated. The number of doors should be in even. But if the well, cooking place, stairs are all built according to Vastu then there is no effect of even or odd number of doors. The doors should be constructed such that the circulation of airis complete. The courtyard in the house must be built either in the middle or in the east or north of the middle or in the north east to get the fruitful effects.
  • The disintegration of the plot or building is done as per these points and if in any case there is a fault , it should be removed or corrected by adjusting these five elements.
